What does HangATag do on User Sites?

Once a User is accepted to use Our Product on a User's Site, and has added the HangATag Code (as defined in the HangATag Terms of Service) to its User Site template we do the following:

  • Collect and store information about links that Customers click on Users Site, so we can attribute the action to the User and report on outbound clicks for Users reports
  • Drop a cookie when a Customer of Users Site clicks an outbound link, so we can record anonymous information about the pages, links and Merchants visited by Customers across our User network. This will be to deliver reporting and analytics to Users, and so that the links we monetize are to products and Merchants that Users have selected.
Do Users need to update their privacy policies if they use HangATag?

It is important that Users privacy policies specify to their readers that they are engaged in affiliate marketing through a third-party service, but that HangATag does not intentionally obtain or store personally identifiable information about Customers at any time.

Users must provide Customers with full details about the HangATag cookies which are dropped onto Customer's machines via User Sites when Customers click on the product links we create on websites. Users based in the European Union, or whose customer-base is predominantly based in the European Union, must provide this information about HangATag cookies prior to their download on to Customer's machines. Users should at least link to the information that can be found in our 'Customers' section below under the heading of 'What information does HangATag collect about Customers through its technology and how does it use this information?'. Users should also provide a link for Customers with information regarding how they can disable the use of HangATag cookies, as set out in our 'Customers' section below under the heading of 'How can I disable the display of HangATag widgets?'.

Users based in the European Union, or whose customer-base is predominantly based in the European Union, must also seek the consent of Customers prior to HangATag cookies being dropped via their User Site. Users can decide how to obtain consent but HangATag suggest that Customers are requested to consent to the terms of Users' privacy policies, the first time they arrive on a User Site. After initial provision of consent by a Customer, it need not be provided again, unless the purpose of cookies dropped via User Sites is changed. If HangATag makes relevant changes to its cookies, we will notify you accordingly.

CUSTOMERS »

This section explains how HangATag operates through User Sites and how information about Customers is obtained and utilized by us.

What is HangATag?

Our Product is used by Users to help them earn an income. It is intended to be unobtrusive and seamless to a Customer's online experience, and work by creating/tagging links to where products can be purchased online within the content Customers are reading. If Customers buy something as a result of clicking on these links, the User is paid a referral fee by the Merchant through HangATag. This referral fee does not come out of Customers' payment, nor does it affect the price Customers pay or the experience Customers have on the Merchant site.

What information does HangATag collect about Customers through its technology and how does it use this information?

We do not capture any personally identifiable data like a Customer's name, email address, contact details, age, gender, or anything else about a Customer personally. We do store Customer's IP addresses, to deliver reporting and analytics to Users. We do not use this information to identify any individuals.

Customers can be certain that their data and privacy is being protected in the manner we describe within this policy.
